Things I Loved About Finland

I was only in the country for about 5 hours, and all but 45 minutes of that were spent in the airport or on a train. But from the very, very little I saw, I was quite charmed. I hope I can make it back to further enjoy all of the following:
  • The cool summertime weather - it was a perfect 70 degrees on the day of my visit, with clear blue skies.
  • The easy-to-navigate city center, with architecture that is more modest than the French, but very striking, and beautifully situated on the Baltic Sea
Market Square
  • The Kauppatori outdoor market, with stalls selling everything from handicrafts to pelts to winter coats to seafood dishes (judging by the signs, salmon soup is a favorite)

  • Moomin - A popular Finnish cartoon, with lots of stuffed animals of characters sold all over the airport. I had no idea what this was, but I definitely wanted to hug and play with them.

Also, I like everything about this.
  • Reindeer and moosemeat burgers. They were sold all over the airport, and you could buy specially-packaged meat to take home with you. I didn't have either, or buy any meat, but I like that the option was available.
