As some of you know, this is my third travel blog. I've had dedicated blogs for my 2006 trip to Thailand and my 2009 trip to Egypt and Jordan. A few years ago, at the request of a prospective employer, I combined the highlights from both of those blogs into the site here. Jen travel blog veterans will find the older post to be familiar, and I hope the newcomers will enjoy them too.
For the next three weeks, I will be traveling to Paris, Helsinki, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Hong Kong. The bulk of the trip will be spent in Vietnam, as I am planning to take some short trips into Cambodia and Laos from there. On the way home, I have a 24-hour layover in Hong Kong. But the first stop is Paris, where I will spend 3 days.
I will be using this blog to record and report out on my adventures. I'll post pictures of meals and places and interesting people who don't mind me taking their picture and putting it on the Internet. And I'd like my readers to enjoy some of the fun of traveling to these places with me, without having to experience the less fun parts of travel with me (best for everyone that way).
This is my first big trip in a long, long time. Many of the friends I've made in the last few years may not realize how much of my soul is connected to travel. From the first days I spent dreaming about visiting Paris, to my first trip to Europe in high school, to my 4-month backpacking trip through Western Europe after college graduation, to working on the border of Thailand and Burma after my first year of law school ... It's just what I do and who I am.
My last proper trip abroad was in 2009, when I spent 3 weeks working on a case study in Amman, Jordan and a few more weeks traveling in nearby countries. Since then, I've been working and moving and focusing on some other pursuits. I'm esctatic to be doing this at long, long last, and I'm more cognizant than ever of how incredibly lucky I am.
Have a great trip Jen!
